Yes, you have read that right! When it comes to having a travel companion, Indians consider mobile to be the best. According to a global survey done by Expedia on mobile-device-related behaviour and preferences among travellers conducted across multiple countries and continents, Indians rank number one in strongly agreeing that mobile device is the most important travel companion (36 per cent).
The other countries who fell next to India in terms of the above rankings are China, Taiwan and Thailand. Commenting on the survey, Manmeet Ahluwalia, Marketing Head, Expedia India said, "The dependency on smartphone and gadgets have increased over a span of time and it is very well reflected in traveller behavior." He further revealed that according to the study, 56 per cent of Indian travellers are addicted to their mobile devices, while 36 per cent Indians carry a portable charger to use as a backup when travelling.
