New Delhi: The eyes of the central government employees will be firmly glued on the forthcoming Empowered Committee of Secretaries report on 7th pay commission recommendations which is likely to be be submitted by the middle of this month for implementation from July.
The 7th pay commission, headed by Justice A K Mathur, submitted its report to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on November 19.
The 7th pay commission that has recommended a 23.5 per cent hike in salaries for central government employees may only get implemented in higher shape by the July, according to Finance Ministry sources.
The Implementation cell of Finance Ministry on the 7th Pay Commission recommendations gave its inputs to Cabinet Secretary through Finance Secretary last week, they added.
The Empowered Committee of Secretaries will be making revision in the pay scale on June 11 on the inputs Implementation cell.
“Still there is no guarantee that it is going to be implemented in the next month, it is still for the Empowered Committee of Secretaries to really final consider on June 11.
“So what we are saying is from the timing it can happen by mid-month and not be pushed out too late.” they added.
The Empowered Committee of Secretaries is likely to decide to propose a minimum salary at Rs 21,000 and the highest salary at Rs 2,70,000 for hiking salary around 25 per cent to 30 per cent .
The recommendations of the Empowered Committee of Secretaries, once cleared by the Cabinet, will lead to a big hike in salaries of central government employees and pensioners with effect from January 1, 2016.
The salary hikes are expected to boost sales of affordable homes and consumer durables, which in turn will drive demand in the economy.

The 7th pay commission proposes a 16 per cent hike in basic salaries of 48 lakh serving government employees, and a 63 per cent hike in allowances. As a result, the overall hike in salaries will be 23.55 per cent.
This compares with the 35 per cent salary hike central government employees got on implementation of the sixth pay commission in 2008.
The minimum salary for central government employees has been fixed at Rs 18,000 while maximum Rs 2,50,000 per month by the pay commission.
The government formed a secretary-level Empowered Committee headed by Cabinet Secretary P K Sinha in January to review the pay panel’s recommendations and an Implementation Cell has also been created in the Finance Ministry which works as the Secretariat of the Empowered Committee of Secretaries.
