“Four employees -(loco) driver, assistant driver, loco inspector, and guard – have been charge-sheeted,” Divisional Railway Manager, Ambala Division, Dinesh Kumar said here today when asked about action taken in the train accident case.
The driver, assistant driver and loco inspector had already been suspended in this case, he informed.
“A report by Commission of Railway Safety in this incident found dereliction of duty on the part of the guard as well,” said Kumar.
Two British women had died and 13 others injured after three coaches of a chartered tourist train carrying 37 UK nationals had derailed on the Kalka-Shimla heritage link in Parwanoo on September 12.
Meanwhile, asked about the cancellation of several trains from Chandigarh between January 8 and February 28 due of fog, the DRM said the decision has been taken for the convenience of the passengers.
There was no technology with the railways as of now to run trains at their usual speed during foggy conditions, he said.
DRM, who conducted an inspection at the Chandigarh railway station today, also said consultants would be appointed to explore the possibility of developing land available here as part of plans to make it world class.
